Paint Party Friday: Week 2 Check-In

Welcome back to Paint Party Friday!  (If you're playing for the first time - Welcome!  We're so happy to have you here!)

We were absolutely thrilled about the response to last week's party... So much inspiration, motivation, tips, advice, and even a couple of paintings created expressly for Paint Party Friday:

                 Catherine Constance                                            Heather Stillufsen

Thank you Catherine for bringing the bubbly and Heather for creating such a fun sign!

The results of last week's poll are in!  So, what do you like to paint with?  Anything goes! There is a strong preference for acrylics (though some of you dislike them according to comments) and then watercolours. It's fun to learn what others like to paint with! Now we're going to ask about why you like to paint:

Again, most of you know how to use Mr. Linky but just in case you don't, you type in your name in the first box (that you'd like us to call you) and then the url/link to your post (not your blog url) about your painting efforts in the second box. When you come back in following weeks, your name will likely automatically be entered but you need to redo or paste over the url/link with your new post's address.

We look forward to more conversations being carried on in the comments! Want to tell us more about WHY you paint or about a new technique you've just discovered? We'd love to hear! Let's have some fun!

EVA & Kristin

  1. I'm posting early because Fridays will be an out of town day for me for the next few weeks. At least I'm thinking that is what is going to happen. Thanks and I look forward to blog hopping it to view all the works. Yay!

  6. I'm being organised and getting my post done first thing in the morning this time. I can't wait to get home from work later so I can check out all the other links and see what everyone has been up to!

  7. I didn't vote in the poll because this is why I paint: As a way of connecting to world and myself (maybe that's the voices speaking hehe)

Now, to come up with a post!

  10. I prefer acrylics, and I love to paint because it's like therapy. The focus on whatever it is I'm painting takes me to a happy place. :)

You are both doing such a wonderful job with the parties, and once again I thank you for hosting.

PS - Andy Warhol would've loved you two!! :)

  13. Hello friends,
This is so much fun! Thanks for including my little painting from last week! I love drawing and painting. As I always say there aeren't enough hours in the day for all of the painting and coloring I would like to do!
I met some great people last week and saw some beautiful works of art! I will be visiting everyone throughout the day!
    Thanks again

  14. Good Morning PPF's! So excited to share another week with you all. I can't wait to come home from work and really dive into PPF.

This is just what I needed to spark my inspiration. I got early this week to get my post in. Maybe a little too early....I did my post then made my coffee. I forgot to put the lid on my coffee grinder and shot coffee beans all over the kitchen...hehehe. I got my first laugh of the day!

Have a great Paint Party Friday Everyone!

  22. Just wanted to drop in and say "hi." I'm out of town and haven't been doing any painting. I'm glad to see that this week there's another good turnout! Next week I'll be back with paint on my fingers.

    Cheers!

p.s. I didn't answer the poll because my answer doesn't really fit any of the categories. I paint for fun and self expression and to add beauty to my world. And for the challenge of learning how to do something new.

  23. Wow! It just gets bigger and bigger! All kinds of goodies to look at today. :-)

  24. Hello PPF Friends! Looking forward to seeing what all the artists have to show in their studios....last week was so full of beauty and art that it took a LONG time to get through and get to know everyone. Still, the inspiration and motivation to have something to show every week are the fuel for the creative fire. Thanks, Kristin and Eva, for hosting this fun event :)

Oh, and I like acrylics because they are easy to use and clean up. I am a full-time mom to two preschool aged boys, so painting cannot get too complicated if I'm to accomplish anything. However, because of environmental concerns, I am thinking about switching to a more eco-friendly painting medium....

  25. @Marlene - yes at 5am! Wow - we ARE thrilled!

@Theresa and NatashaMay - so glad you could join us! Welcome!!

@RobanStudio - drop by when you can - this is definitely a drop-in, stay as long as you'd like, or come back when you can kind of party that lasts as long as it does!

@Charlie Thank you! Great to have you back!

@Anne - Looking forward to seeing you next week! "And for the challenge of learning how to do something new." I love that! Wish I'd thought of it when we were writing the poll as it is so true! \Excellent! (And how wonderful Richard Feynmannish a statement)

  27. Oh dear ladies....thank you so much for hosting this wonderful event. As to why I like to paint....painting has proven to be a great form of therapy when needed. All of us have difficult times in our lives and when this happens to me it is always such a Godsend when I can turn to painting or creating something. I truly feel it is a special time with the divine.

  28. Ok, I see that I am late to the party, LOL! ;)

I like both Acrylics and Watercolors, and often use them both in a painting. I've painted mostly with Acrylics because I think they are the easiest medium. If I make a mistake, its dry immed and I can paint a fix right over it.

I love painting. Its my life. I find art to be a meditation, and an open doorway to the divine. I am in a trance when I paint. Images and energy flow through me and there is no time. It is an experience beyond words, and I believe it is very healing. This type of flow is like a prayer of love. Artists contribute so much more to the world than the art itself. Kathryn

  29. @ Kate B - All kinds of goodies indeed! It may turn into a party weekend!

@ Carrie - How well said! "Still, the inspiration and motivation to have something to show every week are the fuel for the creative fire." That is the goal. Fuel is so important!

@Jo/grama's soul and Angelself - Special Time/Doorway to the divine and Mediatation. Excellent motivation and another category we should have included. It's not quite the same as "the voices" telling you too, is it? ;) Thanks for adding it in.

  31. Hi, my name is Sheri and I use many mediums. Moslty markers and inks for my ACEOs and acrylics for larger paintings. But of late I am drawn to watercolor pencils and ink. I enjoy trying new mediums.

  32. The technique I used this week was to start with a piece of paper that was already splodged with paint. I'd brayered on some spare acrylic paint from another project onto a page in my sketchbook then just waited for inspiration which came for this piece. The beauty of it was that I didn't have to do so much painting afterwards - I already had all these yummy textures to play with!

  33. Hi, I can't believe it's friday again... I am JUST working on posting my Friday pieces on my blog. They should be up in a while.
Gosh, I hope that even though I'll be at the very end of this Linky's list, I will still get some views :)

  34. Oh, one more thing.. it's not letting me make the button show. How do I do it?

  35. @ peggy gatto - a treat! Wonderful! For us too!

@ Sheri - welcome! I added you on the sidebar.

@Wrightstuff - Excellent! Anything that will spur on inspiration is fabulous!

@KateH - Don't worry. Lots of people can only come to the party at the end of the day, and will still be coming on the weekend. I know I'll come visit you!

  43. @ Lisa - yes acronyms. Partly my fault, well likely all my fault - the two industries I spend most of my days in have so many, I start creating them whenever none exist!

Looking forward to seeing your WIP!

  44. Phew, i've just spent the last 3hours looking through all the party blogs! What an amazing collection of artists there is! I have however acquired a new found hatred for word verification in order to leave a comment-it slows the process down so much and inevitably i think i've left a comment only to realise i hadn't!

  45. Just wanted to say that I have gone through the list of all the players at PPF and I am amazed at the variety and just plain awesomeness of all the art and artists. Yes that is the feeling awe. Thanks to Kristin and Eva for hosting such a fun party!!

  49. It's Saturday! and I'm hanging over from PPF! It takes me this long to visit each studio. My day job realy cuts into my artsy time! ... did squeeze some painting (w/porch paint) in today between cleaning bathrooms :( LOVE visiting you all ... thx for the inspiration. see you next Friday! Have a great week!

  50. I failed miserably this week. I have all that painted board waiting for me to do something with it, I'm all excited about experimenting with watercolour now that I've worked out how to use it, and I haven't had time or motivation to do anything. To top it all off this weekend has been massacred by a birthday non-party and a sick little girl (on her birthday). Ugh.

Hopefully I can manage something this week coming instead.

  58. well ... I think I've come to view all jobs, I'm happy, thanks...Eva, Khristine and to all the new friends I have visited. Many people said me they do not understand my language, for all them I say: "there is a TRANSLATOR just below the link to the PPF, you just have to choose the language and the page will (English, French or whatever you want)". Until next Friday. Hugs

  64. Over time, the footage will be very interesting to review. It is better to organize contests during the feast in between meals, so that people do not get bored and stay too long. To make the holiday a family one, try not to turn on the TV and computer during the celebration, but devote time to talking with loved ones.
